In an exclusive interview with Us WeeklyThe 31-year-old tennis star has explained how she has learned to keep social media critics at bay during her more than 15-year professional career.
“People have no filter,” said Stevens, who spoke to us through her partnership with Daily Harvest. “They also don’t understand that you are a different person. They will never tell you that to your face. It effectively forbids people from giving their lives because they don’t want to be judged.”
Stevens added: “It’s all about what the athlete can handle, right? “Do you have to retire?” I say, “If these people are still paying me, I’m not going.” I think what people don’t understand is that if someone was paying you a lot of money, you wouldn’t quit your job. You wouldn’t leave your job.’
After all, Stevens explained that she was in her “I don’t give a hoot…” phase.
“As an athlete, you have such a tough skin in general,” said the 2017 US Open champion. “For the bettors and the people who are literally like, ‘You should have won, you bloody bitch.’ So when people comment on my post like, “Why are you posting this?” This is my page. Unhook.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, whatever,'” she said of her mindset on social media. “If I write and you don’t like it, just subscribe to someone else. Stop following me. Block me. Do whatever you need to do. When you feel secure in your world, in your life, in your tennis, or in anything else, you don’t react as much to what other people say.”
As for her physical health, Stevens — who still spends 40 weeks a year on the road — gushed about how her partnership with Daily harvest arose, surprisingly, quite organically.

“I first started using Daily Harvest during COVID because we were all trying to figure out how to get healthy options,” she explained. “I couldn’t go out and I couldn’t cook. Throughout my career, I’ve always had little moments and periods where I’ve been somewhere for a month. I’ve always liked using the cooking options because it’s easier for me.”
now Daily Harvest was featured a line of protein-rich shakes with vanilla, dark chocolate and berry flavors.
Daily Harvest also partnered with Doc & Glo, Stevens’ personal care company, to highlight both brands’ commitment to supporting active lifestyles and overall wellness.
“When they came out with the cocktail, I knew it was me,” she said. “It’s so easy, so simple. It just fits. It’s real.”
