Slate Auto crosses 100,000 restored reservations in two weeks
Buzzy New EV Startup Slate Auto has raised over 100,000 reservations for its personalized cheap electric pickup truck, the company confirmed to TechCrunch.
Shifer crossed the cornerstone over the weekend, just just over two weeks after leaving stealth mode and truck At an event in Los Angeles, California. The company said the truck will start under $ 20,000 after applying the Federal Tax Credit to $ 7500 and plans to build vehicles in a former printing house in Warsaw, Indiana, such as TechCrunch first reportedS
“We are truly humble by America’s response to Slate brand launch and starting our truck,” said Slate CEO Jeremy Jeremy Snyder in a statement to TechCrunch. “We are excited about what the future has.”
Collecting 100,000 reservations is so quickly a sign of how much interest he had in Slate, as he revealed the truck, but this is not a guarantee that these reservations will turn into sales. The company only asks future buyers to cut $ 50 to book their place in line to order the truck eventually; The fee is being restored.
Many other EV startups have advertised reservations in the past just to fail to meet the expectations for such large, round numbers. Fisker filed a bankruptcy request by selling only a few thousand SUVs to the ocean, despite once claims More than 60,000 reservations. Meanwhile Lordstown Motors was charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for misleading investors about the number of “pre -orders” for its own electrical pickup. (Lordstown Motors similarly applied for bankruptcy and eventually settled with Sec.)
Slate has big goals for its truck, which – for currently undisclosed price – can also be transformed into SUV. The company says it will have the capacity to make up to 150,000 vehicles by the end of 2027 at the Indiana factory. And there are large supporters who help Slate try to achieve this, including Jeff Bezos (Through his family office, Bezos Expeditions), Guggenheim Partners CEO Mark Walter and VC General Catalyst.
