Sherlock Holmes Meeting Skeleton Crew Episode 7 Explained
This article contains spoilers for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” episode 7, “We’re Gonna Be In So Much Trouble.”
“Skeleton Crew” has been a refreshingly delightful family gift that keeps on giving, and this week was no exception. Giving credit to the likes “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Goonies” last week, episode 7 titled “We’ll Have So Much Trouble” revealed another treasure hidden in an exciting episode of Sherlock Holmes.
When the series’ young heroes and Jod (Jude Law) return to At-Atin, the former’s parents are briefly detained security droids before the announcement is made to him and the rest of the planet’s locals. The voice belongs to the unseen “Overseer”, the supposed head of the At-Atin Mint. He’s polite, direct and charmingly British – and that’s exactly what you’d expect from none other than comedian, writer and actor Stephen Fry.
For discerning listeners of the show, Fry’s voice is unmistakable, and has already been applied to stories as big as those beloved as many set in the Star Wars universe. In front of the Skeleton Crew, the actor’s elegant voice could be heard narrating the Harry Potter audiobooks, as well as a special meeting for the Harry Potter films. and the 2005 adaptation of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Coincidentally, it was in 2011 that Fry co-starred with Jude Law as Holmes’s slightly overlooked brother Mycroft in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows.” The only question is whether these two will meet on screen before the end of Skeleton Crew.
Could Stephen Fry’s boss put an end to Jodh in Skeleton Crew?
While Jod may have finally gotten his hands on the treasure he’s been searching for for so long, there’s a good chance that the warden in charge of At-Atin’s mint will have something to say about it. As the series draws to its inevitable conclusion, it would be great to see former Sherlock Holmes stars Fry and Law appear on screen together again, this time with the former as a glorified bank executive in a galaxy far, far away. Then again, with a talent like Fry even involved in this series, there’s a chance there’s more to this Warden than we know.
For a story that has been searching for Tuck Ren’s treasure for so long, it would be a great twist in the story if the legendary pirate finally appeared in Skeleton Crew as a completely different person. What if, in a Wizard of Oz -inspired twist, it turns out that the mysterious Overseer was actually Renaud all along, and he just packed away his piracy days for a simpler life mining his own gold? It would be great to see Fry come out from behind a huge pile of credits and admit that “yo-ho, yo-ho, the pirate life wasn’t for me after all.” If so, we just hope Tuck doesn’t fly off the lightsaber handle and become a full-fledged Sith Lord in our beloved Skeleton Crew. Seriously, if even a hair gets burned on our boy Neal’s head, we’ll go into wookie rage mode.
Star Wars: The Crew of Skeletons season 1 finale airs on January 14, 2025. at 6:00 PM PT on Disney+.
