Shane Gillis had a “pretty big prayer” for Notre Dame ahead of the national championship game against Ohio State
Notre Dame Battle Ireland football fan Shane Gillis prayed for his team to beat Ohio State in the national championship Monday night.
The comedian appeared in a movie Under the armor ad praying for his team to win its first national championship since 1988.

The Fighting Irish are making their first national appearance since 2012, but an NCAA penalty for using ineligible players forced the team to vacate the win that season.
“Hey God. I’m Shane. I know I haven’t been here for a while, but I have a big prayer for you,” he said. “Notre Dame is in the national championship on Monday. I know I know because you’ve been with us the whole time — that field goal a few weeks ago. I know you’ve got a lot going on, so it’s really cool for you. It’s time to help us out.” he demanded.

“I should also say that I haven’t bet on any of these games. . . . Well, yes, I have. But going forward, if Notre Dame wins, you don’t bet on games for . . . a month. A couple of weeks. I’ll probably be on Sunday will bet.
“Come on, God. I know you can help us. Trucking dudes. Pick sixes everywhere. Maybe a few Fumblerooskis! Just let Notre Dame win the national championship.”
Gillis was in Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal win over Indiana.
