Senegal: Ousmane Sonko’s 2050 policy statement seeks to overturn Prime Minister Macky Sall’s amnesty law
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko addressed the National Assembly this Friday to present the government’s overall policy. Sonko outlined key reforms such as tackling unemployment and migration, guided by the 2050 vision, which currently serves as the executive’s road map for public policy in the country. He also said his government would introduce legislation to repeal a controversial law granting amnesty to former president Macky Sall for three years of political violence that left dozens dead.
