Scheinbaum suggests renaming North America: “Mexican America” in Trump’s dare
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Wednesday mocked US President-elect Donald Trump’s proposal to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Standing in front of a global map at his daily press briefing, Scheinbaum drily suggested that North America be named “América Mexicana,” or “Mexican America,” as a founding document from 1814 before the Mexican constitution referred to it.
