Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella has been named the inaugural leader of the HSBC Hurun Global Indians List 2024, demonstrating his exceptional leadership in driving the company’s global success and technological advancement. Followed by Alphabet (Google) CEO Sundar Pichai and YouTube CEO Neil Mohan, whose companies are valued US$2.107 billion and US$455 billion, respectively.The top 10 executives together account for an impressive 73% of the list’s total value, highlighting their significant influence.

The debut of the HSBC Hurun Global Indians List 2024 highlights the remarkable achievements of Indian-origin leaders heading the world’s most valuable corporations.It highlights the important role of the Indian diaspora in influencing the global economic landscape.This list features 226 individuals from a total of 200 companies worth $10 trillion, this list highlights their exceptional influence in various fields.

Some of the notable people on the list include Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian; Shantanu Narayen, President and CEO, Adobe; and Vasant Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis.These leaders have been at the forefront of innovation in technology and healthcare in the growing digital world, with 93 companies of Indian origin leading the way.

Main highlights:

The list revealed a clear dominance of the software and services sector, with 87 individuals making the cut, followed by financial services and healthcare.Notably, 73% of the list’s total value is concentrated among the top 10 Indians worldwide.

San Francisco appears as the city with the most entries, with 37 individuals, while London and Dubai also make their mark with 8 and 6 entries respectively.

On average, those listed on the Hurun Global Indians List 2024 are 56 years old, highlighting the wealth of experience and expertise that underlies their leadership roles.

In addition to the tech giants, Neha Narkhede of Confluent, Anjali Sud of Tubi, Yamini Rangan of HubSpot and Leena Nair of Chanel are among the women leaders with significant influence.They collectively control US$436 billion companies with a total value exceeding Malaysia’s GDP.

A diverse group of Indian-origin leaders highlight the dynamism of entrepreneurship, originating from regions such as Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Kerala and Maharashtra, and are based in global hubs including the US, UK, UAE and Singapore.
