Sarah Michelle Gellar blames America’s marriage woes on a ‘disposable’ society
Sarah Michelle Gellar blames changes in societal values for the decline of long-term relationships.
In September, the 47-year-old actress and 48-year-old Freddie Prinze, who have two children, celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. In an interview with Fox News Digital, alongside her Dexter: Original Sin co-star Patrick Gibson, Gellar reflected on the secrets of a lasting marriage.
“I think everything takes work on you, whether it’s a friendship, a business relationship, or a marriage,” Buffy the Vampire Slayer said.

“You’ve got to make it work,” he said. “And we now live in an extremely disposable society.”

“Your phone breaks, you don’t fix it. You buy a new one,” Gellar added. “And I think it’s a lot of attitude towards relations”.
“And I don’t know, maybe separate bathrooms,” the actress joked.

Gellar and Prinze Jr. they first met on the set of the 1997 hit horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer and began dating in 2000. The couple announced their engagement in 2001 and married a year later in Mexico when Gellar was 24 and Prinze was 26.
Before the nuptials, Prinze Jr. appeared on “The Howard Stern Show,” during which the shock jock made a million-dollar bet that their marriage wouldn’t last.
“We now live in an extremely disposable society.”
“So you’re going to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar even though you know it won’t last?” Stern asked.
“Oh, it absolutely will,” Prinze Jr. replied.

“I want to make a written bet with you,” said the radio host. “In about 10 years you’re going to hunt me down and go, ‘Howard, I owe you.'”

On their 20th wedding anniversary, Gellar uploaded screenshots of the interview to her Instagram Story.
“@SternShow, I think you owe us,” she wrote, via Us Weekly .
Prinze Jr. later shared Gellar’s post on her Instagram Story, writing, “She won’t forget,” along with two laughing-crying emojis.
During an interview with Us Weekly in 2019, Gellar spoke out “communication” was key to their successful marriage.
“It’s about being present,” the New York native said. “Listening is the most important thing.”
“We still make each other laugh. And we respect each other,” Prinze Jr. said, noting that the couple “didn’t go on another date” after sharing their first kiss.
“It was just Sarah,” she gushed to the magazine.

The couple, who starred in the 2002 Scooby-Doo and 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, welcomed their first child, Charlotte Grace, in 2009. In 2012, Gellar gave birth to their son. Rocky James.
Gellar and Prinze Jr. both first rose to fame in the 1990s and became two of the biggest stars of the era. Speaking with Fox News Digital, Gellar shared her thoughts on how celebrity life in the ’90s is different than it is today.
“I would say the advent of social media and everyone having a camera phone,” he said. “I think you had a lot more anonymity, which sometimes made it a little easier to tell the story because people didn’t know much about your every move or even your show.”
“It’s hard to keep things spoiler-free,” Gellar added. “When you have to keep a secret, it moves more indoors.”

The actress stars in a new Showtime series “Dexter: Original Sin”, premiere took place on December 13. Dexter: Original Sin is a prequel series to the network’s hit serial killer show Dexter, which starred Michael C. Hall and ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013.
A plot synopsis for Dexter: Original Sin reads: “Set in Miami in 1991, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson)’s transition from student to vengeful serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must control his inner darkness. must learn to do.”

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Gellar expressed her excitement about joining the cast of the film. prequel series, He shared that he is a big fan of “Dexter”.
“I liked the original,” he said. “And I never had the chance to obviously be a part of it. So, in your head, you’re like, ‘This is too bad. It would be fun to be a part of that canon.”
Gellar continued, “So it’s going to come up again and it’s like, ‘Wait, do I have an opportunity to be a part of a show that I love?'” (it becomes) a dream opportunity.”

Gibson told Fox News Digital that he had “a lot of fun” playing Dexter as a young man and portraying his journey.
“The Dexter we all know is fully formed when we pick up the original in season one,” he said. “So I got to play somebody at that stage in their life — I know I was very awkward at that time in my life.”
“You’re kind of like one leg as a junior, one leg as an adult,” added Gibson. – Adults do not take you seriously.

“Tanya Martin certainly doesn’t take me seriously,” she said with a laugh, pointing to Gellar.

“You don’t fit in with the people,” the actress agreed.
“You’re not a kid either,” Gibson said. “And you experience many of these firsts. In this case, it’s just killing people.”
“Hey, we all have our firsts,” Gellar said.
“And you always remember the first time,” Gibson said. “Not always the best.”

The 29-year-old actor previously starred in The Tudors, The OA and Shadow and Bone, among other roles. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Gibson noted that “there were a lot of unique challenges” in playing a character that audiences are already very familiar with.
“Part of it was maintaining continuity with what Michael was doing,” he said. “What I love Michael’s performance When you meet him, there’s so much in that role.”
Gibson continued, “It was about finding a balance between the two, because obviously just doing an impression would be a little cold for a psychopath.”
“But then it was like remembering it,” he said. “I think as actors we’re trained to be empathetic on set. And you’re working with the best actors ever.”
