US President Donald Trump recently Announced the Stargate project – A $500 billion investment in America’s artificial intelligence infrastructure – should be a “wake-up call” for Europe, according to the CEO of one of the region’s biggest tech firms.

Asked Thursday about the project, which is backed by OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle and led by the Trump administration, SAP CEO Christian Klein said it should be a model for Europe.

“This is the right step and it also makes the government more productive. “Look at Europe, we’re always complaining about the rules around so many AI acts… This is a great example for Europe.”

Klein added that he would “fully support” the Stargate Project for Europe.

He told CNBC’s Karen Tso and Steve Sedgwick: “We do business with all public sectors around the world, certainly welcome in Europe.” “From my point of view, it needs Europe the most.”
