Rosita Missoni, the co-founder of the Italian knitwear brand, has died
Rosita was born in 1931 in Golasecka, Lombardy, whose parents were carpentry.
While on a study trip to London to learn English, she met Ottavio, known as Tai, while competing in the 400m hurdles at the 1948 Olympics.
At the time, Tai was producing its own knitted tracksuits, including zip-up underwear that could be worn over trainers.
“When I got married, four sewing machines came with my husband,” Rosita told AFP news agency in 2016.
The couple, who married in 1953, first set up a machine-knitting workshop in Gallarate, northwest of Milan.
