Rocky Flintoff has joined the England Lions squad for their upcoming tour of Australia. He was coached by his father Andrew. Shoaib Bashir and Tom Hartley hope to hone their skills. Josh Tongue is also set to return.
Rocky Flintoff selected for Lion’s England tour
Rocky Flintoff, 16, has been named a England Lions selection for their January tour of Australia. He has gained an important platform in his professional ascent. Under the leadership of Andrew Flintoff, he has joined the squad, who is the father of Rocky Flintoff.
He has played exceptionally well on his England Under-19 debut and in his first-class performances with Lancashire. He has also featured on the South Africa tour and is now set to gain invaluable experience in Australia.
Shoaib Bashir and Tom Hartley Eyes Ashes Preparation
Shoaib Bashir has been England’s leading Test spinner in 2024. Bashir, has been mentored by former Ashes-winning spinner Graeme Swann. Bashir will play three matches, including an unofficial Test against Australia A. Lancashire’s Tom Hartley is also a Test experienced runner. He has also been included in the selection for the Australia series.
Josh Tongue returns from injury
Fast bowler Josh Tongue will make a remarkable comeback after prolonged injury setbacks. Tongue has impressed the selectors with his Test performance in 2023. He was joined by young pacer John Turner and Sam Cook.
England Men’s Performance Director Ed Barney has highlighted the importance of the tour, saying: “We have rewarded proven artists and emerging talent. Tours like this are crucial for development and preparation.”
