The talented dancer recalls how a lucky twist of fate brought her suitor just when she was feeling vague and disillusioned in Los Angeles.

Riley Arnold discovered Walker Lyons through her Uber driver

On the Christmas episode of The Squeeze podcast, the TV host made some heartwarming confessions about meeting her beau for the first time. According to Arnold, it all started with a day gone wrong due to pesky Los Angeles traffic that left her with no choice but to take an Uber.
She recalled going out for a few wardrobe essentials in preparation for an appearance on Good Morning America. Arnold noted that she was alone and had no one to hang out with in Los Angeles, as her family and friends were out of town. She explained:
“And I was like, I don’t want to be driving and trying to find parking at a random mall right now. And now it’s Saturday. Like, I’m just not going to do it.’

The dancer mentioned that her decision was made by her mother, who offered her an Uber ride, which is how it all started. About how the trip went, Arnold shared:
“I’m getting into an Uber. Here it is indeed good lady And we are simple how talking about dancing and she talking about what she does. And she also said, “Okay, it can be heard.” indeed surprisingly Don’t take it the wrong way.”
Arnold pointed at podcast that her driver told her about her “nephew who plays USC football” who might get along very well with the dancer. The driver then encouraged the dancer to check out the athlete on Instagram and contact him if she was interested.

The 19-year-old initially did not want to start a romantic relationship
Arnold said she took the Uber driver at his word and checked on Lyons. According to her, “I looked at him and said, ‘Okay, he’s cute.’ So at that point I was too scared to do anything about it, and so I just wanted to put it in my back pocket.”
The day was over, and by the time she got home, she had completely forgotten what had just happened and was focused back on Dancing with the Stars.
She added that she had no strong desire to start a relationship anyway. At the time, juggling love and her busy schedule seemed like a bad idea, affecting her emotional availability.

However, fate had bigger plans and one day one of her sisters sent a TikTok video of Lyons to their family group chat, suggesting that she was reaching out to him for a potential date. With a laugh she said:
“I was like, ‘You guys are going to die now.’ Like, me literally was in his aunt’s Uber a week ago,” and they’re like, “Riley, go get him. Now follow him now.‘”

The dancer and her footballer boyfriend have many mutual connections
Arnold shared that she eventually discovered that she and the college football player had much more in common than his Uber driver aunt.
“And then I found out that my brother-in-law is actually friends with his best friend’s father, and there’s a connection,” the professional dancer revealed.
Lyons also knew many of the television personality’s friends in Utah. She revealed that his family friends went to school in the same neighborhood where she grew up.
“We have a crazy amount of mutual relationships, so the fact that we haven’t met before is crazy, but I think we met at the best time of our lives,” she added.
The “DWTS” star concluded that she had caved to the pressure and decided to follow him on Instagram first. She continued:
“So he came back for me, texted me, got my number and us text for a while and then he said “can i take you on a date?” And I said, ‘Of course you can,’ and that’s how it all started.”

So far, Arnold has only good things to say about her boyfriend, proving that her decision to take a significant risk and step out of her comfort zone has paid off.

The superstar said he was constantly looking forward to meeting Lyons: “I don’t know, it’s just crazy that we had a little back-to-back meeting, but I don’t mind. I’m so excited to get to know him and hang out with him, and again, it’s just fun to see how it all turns out.”
