‘RHOBH’ star’s St. John home burned to the ground in Los Angeles wildfires – she lost everything
Bozoma St. John is mourning the loss of his dream home in Malibu, which was destroyed by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The 47-year-old star confirmed in a heartfelt Instagram post on Jan. 9 that the home she’s worked tirelessly on is now gone.
In an emotional post Saint John reflected on the significance of the home, which she described as one she had “prayed for” and “worked blood, sweat and tears” to make it a reality. The house was a symbol of peace and a safe place for her and her 15-year-old daughter, Lael. “This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked blood, sweat and tears for,” she wrote in the caption of photos of the property.
Saint John continued to explain the deep personal significance of this house for her, especially after facing problems, including racist neighbors. She shared that she had to purchase the property in a trust to protect her privacy as a “widowed, single black woman with a teenager” trying to purchase in an “exclusively designated beach area.” “This is the house where I found peace after fighting racist neighbors and a community that forced me to buy it in a trust in a trust so that no one would know that a widowed, single black woman with a teenager was buying exclusively on a -settled beach.”
The reality star, who tragically lost her husband to cancer in 2013, described the home as a haven for her and her family. “This was my house EFF YOU I’M HERE” Saint John said. “The house I built a movie theater in is dedicated to my sister so she can watch her movies in her shrine. This is the house where I finally felt like I could choose my time… when I want and how I want.’
Saint John ended her post with the devastating news that wildfires had destroyed the entire property. “He’s gone,” she shared. “This is an unimaginable loss. I grieve with the rest of Los Angeles that is burning… and even if I found even the words to write here, there is nothing I could say at this moment to describe the feeling. I am asking for your prayers for Lael and me. God bless you.”
St. John’s friends and fellow celebrities expressed their condolences in the comments section, offering words of comfort and support. Andy Cohen wrote: “I’m so sorry. It’s unimaginable.” Fashion designer Rachel Zoe shared, “You are one of the strongest and most inspiring women I know and you will continue to do what you always have. We’ve got you, and you’re not alone. My heart is broken for you and all our friends.’ Actress Sophia Bush also sent her condolences, commenting: “Oh Boz, I’m so sorry. Covering you both in love.”
The wildfires forced many residents of Los Angeles to leave their places, affecting more than 80,000 people. Other celebrities including Billy Crystal, Ricky Lake, Cameron Matheson and Paris Hilton have also confirmed the loss of their homes. In addition, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, Miles and Kelly Teller, John Goodman, Jennifer Gray and many others were also affected by the fires.
Since the Palisades fire began on Jan. 7, more than 130,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate due to high winds and dry conditions fueling the flames. For now, the fires have claimed lives, although the full damage and exact losses are still being determined by officials.
St. John’s The loss is just one of many as wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.
