Members of Congress from California toured the ruins on Saturday Altadena and north Pasadena caused by the still raging Eaton fire.

Representative Judy Chu, whose congressional district includes the communities most affected by the Eaton Fire Los Angeles County took members of Congress from California on a tour of the devastated neighborhoods and streets.

Cal Fire reported Saturday night that the Eaton fire had spread to more than 14,100 acres with 15% containment. About 7,000 buildings were burned.

“I am very grateful to my colleagues Congress from California who were able to drop everything and demonstrate to Los Angeles County and the nation that we stand behind each other as Californians,” Chu wrote in a statement released after the tour.

“Pasadena officials explained to my colleagues how difficult the rebuilding process would be and the massive support they would need from the federal government to be successful,” Chu wrote. “They also pointed out how many black families who sought refuge from segregation and redlining in Altadena and parts of Pasadena County lost entire generations of wealth they had successfully built. My colleagues then witnessed the complete destruction of streets, neighborhoods, and community institutions. . . .
