Reduction of Trump Administration may endanger efforts to study AI

The Trump Administration has fired a number of employees of the National Scientific Foundation that were selected for their AI experience, threatening the agency’s ability to maintain key AI research, Bloomberg Reported.

One of the affected departments inside the NSF, called the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships, was essential for the implementation of government grants focused on AI. Many review panels have been postponed or canceled as a result of cuts by postponing funding for some AI projects, according to Bloomberg.

AI experts have criticized the latest redundancies of the Trump administration to the scientific grant of grants, and in particular the reductions, supported by the Ministry of Government Efficiency of the billionaire Elon Musk.
