Reality show prize money: Survivor, Challenge and more
Rocking in the dough! Reality show can be exhausting, inconvenient and time consuming, but for many participants it is more than worth it based on the prize money they stand to win at the end.
Johnny “Bananas” Devenanziowho has won seven seasons from MTV Challengehas taken home over $1.2 million in winnings over the years. When it comes to winning a personal season, Challengevaried with the top competitor taking home the top prize of $900,000 split between two people for 2021 The Challenge: Double Agents. In the landmark 40th season Challenge: Battle of the Ages increased the prize to $1 million.
Baking shows also have a wide range of starting funds, with some series giving the champion just a cake stand, while others have the top chef premiering with a position at the restaurant and a salary. Talent contests, however, are the most inconsistencies in relation to prizes.
For many years, Voice coaches have been vocal about as winners of a singing competition don’t seem to get the support they deserve from the record label that signs them as part of the winners’ compensation package.
“We work with these artists, we do this huge workshop for them and we get them to the end of the show, and I think the work we do on the show is amazing,” the former trainer Adam Levin told journalists at a press conference for Voiceseason finale in December 2017 “We’re giving these guys this incredible platform and this really rare thing, a lot of exposure and airtime. Once we pass the torch, it’s a label that absolutely destroys it.”
