Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chip will power more affordable Copilot+ PCs
Qualcomm is launching a new platform that will make Copilot+ computers available to more people. Snapdragon X, the brand’s latest addition Snapdragon X series which also include X Elite and on X Morecomes with Qualcomm’s Oryon 8-core processor and integrated Adreno GPU. The company says it can run up to 163 percent faster than comparable platforms from its competitors, that its neural processing engine can perform AI tasks on the device more efficiently, and that it allows for long (even multi-day) battery life.
Apparently, there are over 60 computer models powered by the platform that are being developed and manufactured by various manufacturers, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. These companies are expected to release the first batch of Snapdragon X products early this year, with more than 100 models by 2026.
The devices will be priced at $600, making them a viable option for many people looking to buy a new computer. They won’t just be laptops, either – Qualcomm says buyers can expect Snapdragon X-powered mini PCs, too, and will announce more details soon. The company believes the Snapdragon X devices will be “a good solution for students, freelancers and budget users who need a reliable and powerful laptop.”
