Princess Anne says she has no memory of the accident before being hospitalized

Princess Anne said she has no recollection of the accident that led to her hospitalization last summer.

“I know where I thought I was going, and it was to go to the chickens, no, nothing to do with the horses,” said Anne. Press Association during a trip to South Africa in an interview Posted on Friday, January 24th.

Princess Royal, 74, spent five nights in Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England, after suffering “minor injuries and concussion following an incident” at her Gatcombe Park estate, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on June 24, 2024.

At the time, Anne’s medical team said her injuries could have been caused by the impact of the horse’s legs and head. But, according to Koralevsky, she does not remember how she was with her horses before being hospitalized.

Princess Anne was born to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1950 and has kept royal watchers afloat for over 70 years. Anne married British Army Captain Mark Phillips in 1973. “(It was) my regular visit,” she continued. “I have no idea what I’m doing in this field because I’ve never walked this way.”

“It just reminds you, shows you — you never know what (happens) and you can’t recover,” she added.

Ann said the accident and subsequent hospitalization reminded her to “take each day as it comes.”

At the time, the palace said Anne’s hospitalization was a “precautionary measure for observation” and added that she was “expected to make a full and speedy recovery”.

The accident comes during a difficult year for the royal family, as Anne’s brother, King Charles IIIand Princess Kate Middleton were dealing with relevant cancer diagnoses.

Middleton announced in January that She is in remissionwhile Charles is expected to resume a full engagement schedule this year.

Ann invariably called “Royal’s Hardest Job” British press for several years. In 2024, she completed 217 engagements – the most of any royal – Daily mail reported. Charles took second place with 186 engagements, per exit.

When asked about the possibility of retirement, Ann told the Press Association that “it’s not really an option.”

“I don’t think there’s a retirement program in this particular life,” she said. “It’s not really written, no. It’s not really an option, no, I don’t think so.”
