Pope Francis made history on Sunday with his first papal visit to Corsica. He called on local priests to resist spiritual groups that fueled political divisions and advocated a “dynamic” form of secularism, promoting the popular piety that distinguishes the Mediterranean island from secular France as a bridge between religion and civil society.
