blizzard this week released its year-end review report, which revealed details of how players engaged with its titles in 2024. To that end, he revealed several statistics about player performance in his various games, including World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. According to the studio, players have invested a total of about 8.34 billion hours of time in its games – or about 952,000 years.

Some of the stats are a bit silly, like the one revealing that Overwatch 2 players spent over 203 years in the game’s new skirmish maps, or that Diablo IV saw 480 million player deaths. The studio also revealed more sober stats, like the aforementioned playtime, as well as the $12.3 million it donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from proceeds from the sale of Overwatch 2’s “Pink Mercy” skin.

Considering it’s been a tough year for live-action titles, Blizzard has maintained a steady interest in its own live-action games, which is remarkable. In 2024 titles such as Concord, XDefiant, Foamstars and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League were announced. But Blizzard’s titles seem to hold enough steady player attention to post such high stats.

Blizzard President Johanna Faris said in a statement, “2024. It’s also been a big year for Blizzard releases, including World of Warcraft’s multi-expansion story arc, Worldsoul Saga, with the launch of The War Within followed by a truly amazing anniversary celebration spanning the entire Warcraft universe, including WoW Modern and Classic. Hearthstone and Warcraft Rumble… Earlier this year we were very pleased to bring Blizzard games back to mainland China in partnership with NetEase. We love being able to serve our players in China again and successfully welcome so many people back to both World of Warcraft and Hearthstone in the region.”
