Photos from the set of The Boys season 5 reveal possible spoilers and a new superhero team
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but The last season of The Boys was a complete bloodbath and left us on the darkest note. Viewers expect the worst with Prime Video’s satirical superhero series, which always seems to follow the path of utmost cynicism. In Season 4, this meant that the United States installed a puppet president to do Homelander’s (Anthony Starr) orders and impose martial law while our heroes were scattered to the winds or captured. Oh, and if all that wasn’t bad enough, a mid-credits scene even teased the return of everyone’s favorite freak Soldier (Jensen Ackles).
Well, if you thought it couldn’t get any worse, you clearly weren’t paying enough attention. Season 5 has been confirmed to be the final season of the show and is currently in the process of filming. Of course, since this isn’t a hermetically sealed Marvel set in the middle of an Atlanta parking lot, that means photos from the set are making the rounds on social media … and all signs point to some of the show’s darkest yet. storylines yet. Please note that we can’t embed photos here – at least not without being sued – but of course the law doesn’t prohibit it binding to those aforementioned set photos. So definitely check them out here on X (formerly and forever known as Twitter) and, more broadly, here on reddit.
Now we can talk about what surely looks like the main conflict of the upcoming season: all the Homelander enemies, including many of our boys, are rounded up in fascist internment camps, renamed “Freedom Camps”. Also, the appearance of a vehicle called the “Kix Mobile” seems to point to a new Supes team designed to poke fun at both Marvel and DC. More details below!
“The Boys” Season 5 may feature “Teenage Kicks.”
The world of The Boys is getting ready to expand even further – and it might have something to do with it the well-received spin-off series “Gen V.” Season 5 promises (threats?) to go off with a bang, and as seen in last year’s finale, the various college-age characters introduced in “Gen V” are officially starting to transition into the main storyline. But just when we thought they’d be the youngest new additions to the upcoming fifth season, some photos from the set have thrown fans another major twist … though readers of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson’s original comics may recognize it.
Take a look at the Teenage Kix, a team of teen soupers who represent this universe’s answer to more popular versions like the Teen Titans in the DC Universe or Marvel’s Young Avengers (who, fittingly, appear to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). In the comics, Teenage Kix is essentially meant to be a parody of all those teen-oriented vigilante teams we’ve seen before. In this case, they were found to be funded and controlled by the sinister Vought Corporation. And, even more intriguingly, we actually know a couple of former members of that team: speedster A-Train, played by Jesse T on the show. Asher, and the diabolically brilliant sister Sage (Susan Hayward), who was first introduced this past season. (There’s also Popcla, played by Brittany Allen back in Season 1 of the show, but I’d rather not dwell on her particularly gruesome death.)
Since “The Boys” hasn’t been shy about playing with the comics before, it’s theoretically possible that at least some of the “Gen V” cast will eventually be included in the adaptation version of Teenage Kix. Of course, the side of the van in set photos is emblazoned with the faces of three young cast members, none of whom we’ve met before. We’ll have to wait and see exactly how they end up factoring in The Boys Season 5, which is set to debut sometime in 2026.
