Patrick Mahomes was seen on the basket with an ankle injury after the Chiefs game

Patrick Mahomes limped off the field with an ankle injury during the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 15.

The Chiefs quarterback, 28, suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the game when he was replaced by a backup Carson Wentz. The Chiefs listed Mohamed as questionable to return. While Mahomes limped off the field, he was later spotted riding in the back of a cart, behind NFL personnel.

“I was trying to make a play,” Mahomes said NFL. “When I threw the ball, I got hit and I didn’t see it, it felt like someone hit me from behind as well, so I got dizzy. This happens in football. Try tying yourself back in, but it’s obviously a bit of a pain. Now we’ll get him after the rehab part and try to be ready for next week.”

Mahomes did not return to the game, but watched from the sidelines as the Chiefs beat the Browns 21-7.

“Patrick, his right ankle is injured. It’s not broken, but it hurts,” said the Chiefs head coach. Andy Reid said about the defender’s ankle in an interview with reporters after the game, trans social networks. “He’ll start the rehab part and then we’ll just have to see how he does.”

“He’s not broken, that’s what I can tell you,” Reed continued. “He will literally be day-to-day as we go forward. I don’t know how many tumors he has or anything like that.’

“It hurts,” Reed continued told reporters. “It will literally be day by day. He could probably come back. He wanted to go back. There was no need for that.”

Footage after the game showed Mahomes coming out of the locker room and being wheeled away on his ankles on a gurney for further examination — he was not wearing a cast or tape on the injured limb.

“Usually the next day you feel good about it,” Mahomes said of his injury. “I feel like I could have finished the game under different circumstances. But I thought it was a smart decision to bring in Carson. He played a lot of football and finished the game well.”

It is currently unclear if Mahomes will be ready to play with the Chiefs in the final two games of the year. The NFL team will play the Houston Texans on Saturday, December 21, and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, December 25.

Mahomes was hurt after being fined nearly $15,000 making a “violent gesture” during the Chiefs’ Nov. 17 game against the Buffalo Bills, which they lost 30-21. In the fourth quarter, Mahomes was caught on CBS cameras showing the use of a shotgun after a big play. The NFL deemed it an unsportsmanlike conduct offense.

Despite recent events, Mahomes has previously said that the fourth quarter of a football game should be “a little bit calmer” than the rest of the game.

“You want to play,” Mahomes told reporters after the Chiefs’ 30-27 win over the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 24. – You want to be a little calmer in the fourth quarter. I’ve always said it can be good when you get into the playoffs and later in the season, just knowing that you’ve been in those moments before and you know how to kind of attack it.”
