Paramount+ canceled Frasier Revival, but there’s hope for a season 3
No Doctor – Paramount+ anyway. Deadline reports that the series renewal of the long-running sitcom Frasier has been canceled after two seasons. However, this is not necessarily the end of the show, as production company CBS Studios is currently shopping it to other potential platforms.
Reports of the cancellation did not include any specific reasons, and since the “Frasier” revival was exclusive to the streaming platform, there is no reliable data on season 2 viewership. The the first season also premiered on CBS to 2.2 million viewers in October 2023, and Paramount+ reported that it was the “No. 1 original comedy premiere” in terms of reach (slightly stretching the definition of “original”). However, there were no press releases about Season 2 viewership numbers, and this latest news shows that those numbers weren’t much to brag about.
The original 264-episode “Frasier” series, as well as 20 episodes of the renewed series, will remain on Paramount+ for now. The original series is also available on Hulu and Prime Video, and Deadline suggests those streamers will be potential targets as CBS Studios brings “Frasier” to market.
