P. K. Kemsley CALLS OUT Dorit for calling him a “real alcoholic” on RHOBH!

Paul “PK” Kemsley claps Dorit Kemsley for calling him a “full-blown alcoholic,” calling her statements hurtful, wrong, and believing she is using his difficulties to create a storyline.

“I was shocked, disappointed and upset (about) what Dorit should have said ” PK admitted on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. “I’m very proud of my sobriety and I’m publicly proud and I’m 12 months and two weeks (sober).”

PK revealed that his decision to go public with his sobriety was meant to inspire others, calling it one of the hardest journeys of his life. However, he noted that Dorit the comments reflect a lack of understanding of addiction.

“Dorit’s lack of understanding of sobriety is not her fault,” he said. “She didn’t work the program or do what I did. So there is no such thing as a “total alcoholic”. You’re either an alcoholic or you’re not.”

For now PK acknowledged that his alcoholism played a role in their family struggles, he emphasized that it was only part of a bigger picture. “If you understand the disease, then alcoholism is a symptom. This is not the reason,” he explained. “The reality is you have to get to what was down there.”

Watching the premiere episode, PK admitted, it was “emotionally difficult”. He pondered Dorit comments about his past financial difficulties, including gambling debts and bankruptcy, which he claimed were inaccurately portrayed. “The bankruptcy and all the gambling debts were long before I met her,” he clarified.

“I haven’t gambled since 2008. I don’t drink. Bankruptcy was in 2010, (2009) … all that was in the past.” PK also addressed the terms of their separation, which they agreed on in May of this year. He revealed that he initiated the split after noticing Dorit unhappiness

“It was an all-time low and I said, ‘This isn’t working and we need some time apart,'” he recalls.

Thinking about Dorit claim that he is a “hard drinker” PK corrected my terminology. “I am in the stage of full recovery,” he said. “That’s the term: ‘full scale.’ That’s where it should be used.”

Despite the tension, PK expressed sadness rather than anger at their situation. “I never thought that the two of us, the closest couple in the world, would be in this position where I would watch this woman I love, the mother of my children, speak negatively about me on a TV show,” he said.

“It’s just unusual. It’s an unusual concept.”
