OYO updates new guidelines: Unmarried couples barred from check-ins
OYO, the leading travel and hotel booking platform, has introduced a new check-in policy for its partner hotels, starting from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Under the revised guidelines, unmarried couples will no longer be allowed to register, a PTI report said.This policy will come into effect from this year.
As per OYO’s updated policy, all couples, including those with online bookings, will now have to provide valid proof of their relationship at the time of check-in.
Originally implemented in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the new guidelines are based on local feedback. Partner hotels in the city have been instructed to implement the rules immediately.
Sources said the company may expand the policy to other cities depending on the response and performance seen in Meerut.
Reports suggest that OYO has been approached by civil society groups in the past, particularly in Meerut, asking them to take action on the matter.
The sources also revealed that residents of other cities have submitted similar petitions. “OYO has previously received feedback from civil society groups, especially in Meerut, calling for action to address this issue.
