Openai adopts the standard of the opponent of Anthropic to connect AI assistants to the systems where data reside.

In a Post on X on WednesdayOpenai CEO Sam Altman said OpenAi would add support for The context protocol of the anthropic modelor MCP, in its products, including the desktop application for Chatgpt. MCP is an open source standard that helps AI models produce better, more appropriate answers to certain requests.

MCP allows models to draw data from sources such as business tools and software to perform tasks, as well as from content and applications development environments. The protocol enables developers to build two -way connections between data sources and AI applications such as chatbots.

Developers can expose data via “MCP servers” and build “MCP customers” – for example, applications and work processes – which connect to these command servers. In the months after Anthropic Open Sourced MCP, companies, including block, Apollo, Replit, Codeium and Sourcegraph, added MCP support for their platforms.
