After weeks of speculation, Marmoush has agreed a deal with the Premier League champions until 2029.

“Manchester City” announced the transfer of “Eintracht Frankfurt” forward Omar Marmush for a down payment of approximately $72.6 million.

“The 25-year-old Egyptian striker has completed his move to the Etihad Stadium on a four-and-a-half-year deal, meaning he will remain at the Club until the summer of 2029,” City said in a statement. on Thursday.

“It’s a day I’ll never forget,” Marmoush said after signing for the English Premier League champions.

“It’s an incredible feeling to sign with Manchester City, one of the best teams in the world. I am delighted, my family are very proud and we are all very happy to be in Manchester.

“With Pep, his coaching staff and the world-class facilities here, the players have everything they need to improve. “When I had the chance to come here, it was very attractive for me.”

Marmoush is City’s third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.

The former Bundesliga star’s contract is understood to include the potential for a further $5 million in add-ons.

Born in Cairo in 1999, Marmoush was an early standout in the academy of Egyptian Premier League club Wadi Degla. At just 17, he made the first team and joined Wolfsburg’s reserve team a year later.

At Wolfsburg, Marmoush initially struggled for consistency and playing time, eventually being loaned out to St Pauli and Stuttgart.

The forward joined Frankfurt on a free transfer ahead of the 2023-2024 season and scored 12 goals in 29 league appearances.

Marmush’s development has drawn inevitable comparisons with compatriot Mohamed Salah, but the Liverpool superstar has cautioned against such links.

“Omar has great potential and is an important player for his team and his national team at the moment, but I hope we stay away from the idea of comparison because it will put pressure on him,” Salah said in November.

“Don’t compare him to me. Don’t say “the new Mohamed Salah”. Let him live his career. It doesn’t help him to compare a player at the beginning of his career with a player who has achieved a lot over many years.”

“City” football director Txiki Begiristain said that Marmus was a “talented and exciting forward”.

“He’s had a great season and he’s had an impact every time we’ve watched him,” he said.

“He has all the qualities that a top striker requires. He has great pace and awareness and is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play in a number of different positions, which is a really valuable asset.”

His arrival at the Etihad Stadium comes amid a frustrating season for City.

City, the champions of the last 4 seasons, are currently fifth in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool with one game in hand.

Defeat at Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday also left Pep Guardiola’s side in danger of missing out on the knockout stages of the Champions League.
