Nintendo Fiscal Year Sales drop 30% before the release of Switch 2

Nintendo reported a relatively weak sales of 1.164.9 billion yen for its fiscal year, ended on March 31, 2025, which is 30.3% of 1.671.8 billion yen a year earlier.

But the company was scourge in terms of its SWitch 2 forecast, as it expects 15 million pieces for the Switch 2 to be sold in the fiscal year, ending March 31, 2026 and 45 million copies of the Switch 2 software. During the same period it expects to sell 4.5 million units of the switch and 105 million in 105 million SW.

It is no surprise that the results are decreasing, as Nintendo has seen that hardware sales are waiting for upcoming sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 hybrid console, which debuts on June 5th.

Nintendo’s net profit for the fiscal year was 278.8 billion yen, which is 43.2% of 490.6 billion yen years earlier.

Nintendo sold 10.8 million Switch hardware units over FY25, compared to 15.7 million hardware units through the FY24. And sold 155.4 million games through FY25, compared to 199.67 million games through FY24.

The big sellers during the year were 7.48 million copies of the Super Mario Jamboree party, 6.23 million copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, 4.09 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
