Nicole Kidman weeps on stage as she accepts her award for her late mother at the Palm Springs Film Festival
Nicole Kidman At the Palm Springs Film Festival, she broke down in tears while dedicating the International Star Award to her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.
The 57-year-old actress was presented with the award by friend Jamie Lee Curtis at the 36th International Film Awards gala on Friday.
In the clip shared on social media, Kidman became emotional during her address to the crowd that she was “still grieving” over Janet, who died in early September 2024. Kidman learned of her mother’s death shortly after arriving at the Venice Film Festival, where she won the best actress award. She performed in Babygirl, but skipped the ceremony to be with her family.
“I want to dedicate … because I couldn’t do it at the Venice Film Festival,” Kidman said, crying. “I arrived in Venice and he left.”

Australian recalled that he had asked “Babygirl’s” director Halina Reijn to accept the award in Venice on his behalf.
“But now I’m on stage and I’m back,” Kidman said to cheers from the audience.
“Thank you for the chance to say, ‘This is for my mom,'” she said, wiping away tears as Curtis reached over and shook her hand.

“My whole career has been for my mom and dad, who aren’t here now,” Kidman said. “But I still want to keep working and giving back to the world because I love what I do. And I love you all. And I’m so grateful for the privilege of being a part of the film community.
“I’m sorry for crying. I didn’t mean to do it, but now I feel mom. This is for you, mom.”

“Thank you for giving me the chance to say, ‘This is for my mom.'”
“I arrived in Venice to find out that my beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had just passed away,” Kidman said in a statement. Associated Press. “I’m in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for him. He shaped me and made me.”
Kidman’s rep later told Fox News Digital: “The family is heartbroken and would like privacy at this time.”

Kidman also premiered Babygirl at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10.
On September 12, Kidman and her sister Antonia Kidman expressed their gratitude for the support they received as they coped with their mother’s death.

“My sister and I, along with our family, want to thank you for the love and kindness we have felt this week.” Sharing on Instagram together.
“Every message we have received from those who love and admire our mother has meant more to us than we can express. Thank you to our entire family for respecting our privacy as we care for each other.”
The actress won acclaim for her performance in the erotic thriller Babygirl, starring Antonio Banderas and Harris Dickinson. Kidman was also nominated for best actress at the Golden Globe Awards, which aired on Sunday night.

Kidman stars in its second season Taylor Sheridan’s The Paramount+ series “Lioness” debuts in October. She will next be seen in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video show Scarpetta, based on Patricia Cornwell’s book series of the same name.
Curtis will play Kidman’s sister in Scarpetta, and both actresses are executive producing the project.

At the premiere of “Lion” on October 23, Kidman reflected on her feelings about the latest wave of success in her career.
“I wish my mom was here,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s all I’d say. Everything about the job is great, but I wish my mom was here.
“It’s been tough,” he added. “It’s a tough road. I’m hanging in there.”
