A 68-year-old man was stabbed to death in Alabama New Year’s Eve and family members mourned the devoted family man and military veteran.

On Saturday, detectives secured warrants for the arrest for two suspects on Christion’s death after receiving advice from the community.

Police have identified Zingi Gamble, 60, and her son, La Verne Gamble, 40, as the suspects.

Zingy Gamble was dating Christon at the time of the stabbing, authorities said. Police said they believe Zingy Gamble stabbed Christio over a money dispute.

The authorities said that the mother and son were arrested and are in their custody Jefferson County Jail. Zingy Gamble was booked without bond and La Verne Gamble was jailed for murder and held on $15,000 bond.

“Ricky was more than a veteran; he was a beacon of joy and love,” his family said in a statement.

“His sense of humor was infectious and his ability to make people smile even in difficult times will always be remembered,” the family said. “Whether it was a funny joke, a heartfelt comment, or his unwavering positivity, Ricky had a special gift for making those around him feel good.”

The family said Christio was the head of the family.

“His family was the center of his world and he cherished every moment he spent with them,” they said. “His love for his children was unconditional and he was immensely proud of their presence devoted father.”
