Nelly explained his decision to speak at Donald Trump’s inauguration

The Shade Room previously reported that Nelly was scheduled to perform at Donald Trump’s inaugural ball on Monday, January 20. The news came to light when CBS reporter Taurian Smalls shared it on X (formerly Twitter) on January 17.

Now, the St. Louis host is explaining his decision to take part in the Donnie celebration. Nelly joined the rapper Willie D for a conversation on YouTube, where he addressed his choice, which caused a lot of reaction on social media.

In a video interview, Nellie made it clear that it was not for money to perform at Trump’s inaugural ball.

“I don’t do it for money. I do it because it is (honor). I respect the office. It doesn’t matter who is in office. Just like our men and women, our brothers and sisters who defend this country must go to war and put their lives on the line for whoever is in that position. So if they can put the life of someone in office on the line, I sure as hell can speak for someone in office,” Nelly explained.

Willie D. also noted all the backlash Nelly received after it was announced that he was part of the inaugural lineup. He even asked Nellie how he would react to people calling him out for supporting white supremacy. But the rapper directly said that he needs proof that Donald Trump is a supporter of white supremacy. “I would ask them to show me where he is a white supremacist” Nellie added.
