Ryan Dorsey wishes Naya Rivera a heavenly birthday

Ryan Dorsey pays tribute to his late wife Naya Rivera four years after her death.

“🤍. Happy birthday in heaven. 🤍,” Dorsey, 41, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, January 12. “5 birthdays since you’ve been gone. Every day thoughts about how things went wrong. Memories linked to places Still see all things, see all our faces.’

“When I hear a certain song, visions of happiness and sadness fly by, 15 years. I often shake my head, still in disbelief, They say time heals everything, but everything is not grief,” he continued. “Doing everything I can for our Jojo Binks. Over time, I often sit and think. I think more and more about our better times, like this picture from the past, but it still burns.’

Along with his post, Dorsey shared a photo of himself and Rivera walking hand-in-hand at the previous Golden Globes.

Dorsey and Rivera tied the knot in 2014 welcomed son Josie next year. “They are so excited to be first-time parents,” the source exclusively said Us Weekly at that time. “It was a very easy pregnancy and delivery. Naya was born to be a mother and so far she is doing very well. And Ryan has amazing parenting instincts, and he waited on them hand and foot.”

The couple divorced in 2018, raising their son before Rivera died in July 2020 at the age of 33 years. Rivera was swimming in Lake Piru in California with Josie when she drowned.

After her death, Dorsey continued to honor Rivera through emotional tributes on social media. In January 2023, Dorsey celebrated Rivera’s birthday with a series of throwback photos of her and Josie.

“With every little bit of time that passes, it gets easier for me to look at the pictures… but I still don’t have the answers to the questions that our sweet boy asks from time to time. I never will,” he wrote via Instagram. “We are doing our best. 🕊️🦋Fly high 🦋🕊️.”

He continued: “If you’re reading this, no matter what you’re going through, be thankful that you’re still here on this ride. I know some days are harder to get up than others, but keep going, we just have to keep moving forward. 🫶.”
