Developers also should not invent the wheel, which allows them to upgrade proven systems instead of starting from scratch. And smaller studios can develop larger, better games, gain access to high quality tools and assets without massive budgets.

SPROCKET and Unleashed games take the first steps in this endeavor. Sprocket has committed the technology for open source generation and received Epic Mega Grant for this. Unleashed will begin with the launch of much of its art assets and games in public domain.

While the challenges remain, large studios are already exploring open source games. For example, electronic arts have recently been opened multiple Command and conqueror Titles and Activision released Caldera map By Call of Duty: Warzone for non -commercial use. As MyTthica provides the host infrastructure, sharing and distribution of open source assets, binary files, tools and game code where possible, this movement is gaining momentum.

“Sprocket is built on a pile of excellent open source tools,” says Josiah Kiele, CEO of Sprochet. “From the Linux infrastructure up through Mythica Generation Generation Instures.

Through partnerships with organizations such as Linux Foundation, MyTthica works to establish clear paths for game developers to release their work in accordance with licensing restrictions while maximizing the impact of open source contributions. Studios such as SproCket Games and Unleashed Games not only share assets – they actively contribute to the broader ecosystem of procedural, generative and modular development tools that are beneficial for the entire industry.
