Morgan Freemans joins Al Green on the Blues Club stage
Fans of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi were in for a big surprise when the actor Morgan Freeman joined Al Green on stage during his New Year’s Eve performance.
Freeman and Greene duetted the 1971 Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s classic “Let’s Stay Together,” and the crown even joined in to enjoy the fun.
Morgan Freeman is reportedly co-owner of the blues club.

Ground Zero Blues’ Instagram account posted a video of Al Green and Morgan Freeman performing on December 31 with the caption, “Morgan Freeman and Al Green, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!”
In the video, Freeman wore a cream turtleneck sweater and dark double-breasted jacket on stage while singing “Let’s Stay Together” with the legendary Greene, who wore a green jacket with a black lapel paired with a white button-down shirt.
Green asked the crowd to join in as he and Freeman chanted, “I | I’m so in love with you | All you want to do | I’m fine | Because you make me feel brand new | And I want to spend my life with you.”

Freeman sang a solo for the second verse; “Let me tell you, since then, baby | Ever since we were together | Oh, to love you forever | That’s what I need,’ and the 87-year-old movie star even hit the high notes, prompting quick approval from Green as he clapped back at the Million Dollar Baby actor before continuing the song.

Freeman also celebrated the New Year’s Eve performance with a post on social media.
“Lioness» The actor shared pictures of the duo on Xofficially on Twitter, with the caption: “We rang in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year everyone!”
Fans praised the video in the comments and responded by wishing the Shawshank Redemption star a Happy New Year.
“I need more of that in my life and a lot less petty squabbling. Happy New Year, Mr. Freeman. May your blessings be abundant in 2025,” one fan wrote.
Another replied: “Happy New Year, sir!”
“NOW IT’S A JAM SESSION,” added one user X. “Sorry Morgan, we missed it!”

Singing with Al Green was Freeman’s dream
CNN’s Omar Jimenez was at a Mississippi juke bar during the show and videotaped another angel’s performance.
Jimenez shared the video with his X followers with a caption noting that singing with Green was a “dream come true” for the Oscar winner.
The post was captioned: “Morgan Freeman took the stage to make his ‘dream’ come true. He said to sing with Al Green.”
“It made me happy, two legends enjoying life,” replied one user X. “Two legends on stage, nice to see,” another user added.
“He looks like a baby up there.. see that smile? Love to see it! I’m happy for him,” one noted.

Freeman opened Ground Zero Blues Club back in 2001.
The “Glory” star opened a blues club with partners Eric Meyer, Howard Stovall and the late Bill Luckett. Their goal was to open an institution that celebrated Mississippi’s blues heritage.
Besides his club, Freeman is still very busy as an actor. He is currently acting in two films; the thriller Gunner and the drama My Dead Friend Zoe.
He will also be seen in the upcoming film Now You See Me 3.
Freeman stars in Special Ops: Iones with Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana

Freeman also stars in the Paramount + TV series Special Ops: Ioness with actresses Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman.
The action series is another show from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The show is based on the CIA and features Freeman as US Secretary of State Edwin Mullins.
The show’s second season started in October, and the series is as popular as Sheridan’s other shows for Paramount. Sheridan told Freeman that he wrote the role with the actor in mind when approaching the star.
“He cast me in the role he wrote,” Freeman said during the interview TVInsider. “So it’s almost like he’s telling me, ‘I wrote this for you,’ which is flattering in itself.”
