The man from Michigan allegedly stabbed In a possible “copycat” attack that mirrors the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, the president of the company he works for is in the middle of a meeting.

Fruitport Township Police Department said in a statement that Anderson Express Inc. in Muskegon. Eric Denslow, head of the production company, was stabbed during a staff meeting on Tuesday.

“We have not ruled out a provocation motive in this,” Deputy Police Chief Greg Poulson told News 8 on Wednesday. “I think it’s on everybody’s mind at this point.”

Denslow underwent surgery and remains in serious but stable condition, police said.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Nathan Mahoney, was in a staff meeting when he got up and left around 9:20 a.m. He returned 10 minutes later, walked up to Denslow and allegedly stabbed him in the side.

Mahoney got into his car and fled, but was apprehended by the police and was arrested 15 minutes later, police said. He had only been with the company for a few weeks.

Co-workers said the suspect had a calm demeanor. Investigators have not determined a motive for the attack. However, they did not rule out a possible copycat attack.

“We’re going through all of his social media accounts, all of his electronic media, and we’re trying to determine the motive for this action,” Poulson said.

Denslow joined the company as vice president and general manager in January 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile. He rose to the presidency within a year.

Works with Anderson Express car and defense sectors. Fox News Digital contacted the company. In a statement to Fox 17, the company said it was still “in shock” about the incident.

“Our first thoughts are with our president, who has a good prognosis for a full and speedy recovery,” the statement said. “We are also focused on supporting our employees as they process this senseless attack.

Manhoney was charged with murder and assault with intent to escape. He is being held in the Muskegon County Jail on $501,000 bond.

The incident had similarities to the killing of Thompson, who was shot and killed in New York on December 4. Suspected gunman Luigi Mangionewas extradited from Pennsylvania to New York on Thursday.
