Meredith Gaudreau found a poignant way to preserve her late husband’s legacy.

After the death of her husband, Meredith, an NHL star Johnny Gaudreauin August 2024, she recently got tattoos in memory of Johnny using his ashes in ink.

“A month ago, a client asked me to do a cremation tattoo,” the tattoo artist said Tay Nicole Clinch general via Instagram on Wednesday, January 15. “I never did and I was transparent about it, but she still decided to stay with me. Shortly after that she told me her story and it’s safe to say I was very moved when I realized it was a story I already knew and had been brought to tears in the past.’

Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreauwere hit and killed A drunk driver while riding a bicycle in Oldmans Township, New Jersey on August 29, 2024. Johnny was 31, Matthew was 29.

Clinch continued: “Given some factors, I wouldn’t have done it, but given the circumstances, I made an exception. Safety was a priority. A health professional was consulted who gave permission, ensuring that the decision was made with caution and sound guidance.’

Meredith had a Ford “Forever” tattoo on the inside of one of her fingers and the names of her two children, a daughter Noah2 and a son Johnny22 months — on the forearm.

“So with his ashes inked, this tattoo is an additional way to carry his presence with her around their children – thank you for entrusting me with something so special and letting me play a small part in your healing journey,” Clinch wrote.

Clinch explained that she waited a month to post about the tattoos because she “wanted Meredith to be with them in person while they healed, and they healed well without any unusual side effects.”

Meredith expressed her gratitude in the comments section of Clinch’s post, writing, “Obsessed with them. Perfectly done by the best and coolest girl ever.”

The tattoo artist hinted that there could be more ink in Meredith’s future, commenting: “I’m really open to other ideas.”

At Johnny and Matthew’s memorial service in September 2024, Meredith it turned out she was nine weeks pregnant with the couple’s third child.

“We’re actually a family of five,” Meredith said during her eulogy. “I am nine weeks pregnant with our third child. A complete surprise, but again, John was beaming and very excited.”

Meredith added: “I was so nervous because it was a complete surprise again. But his reaction was immediate kisses and hugs, even though I was in the car. After the initial excitement, he looked at me every time and said, “You’re crazy, you know?” Three children?”
