Ain the midst of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills a star Maurizio Umansky faces a backlash as fans accuse him of using the tragedy to promote his real estate business.
Maurizio took to Instagram to share his thoughts and offer help, writing: “I am praying for everyone who has lost their homes. I am praying for Los Angeles and for the wind to stop. I pray for our brave firefighters. This is devastating to me and the Agency will do everything it can to help.”
Critics flooded the comments accusing Maurizio being insensitive and trying to profit from a tragedy. “You are not helping, sit down and shut up,” wrote one user. Another added: “You’re trying to prey on people and make a quick buck in a tough time.”
Other comments included: “You’re selling houses now – it’s so tacky”, “You’re insensitive” and “You’re making a stupid move by doing this”.
Some have even made previous accusations against Agencyciting allegations that the company fraudulently obtained a PPP loan – allegations that Mauricio and his legal team have denied.
Adding fuel to the fire were some commentators who couldn’t resist dragging their feet Maurizio separation from Kyle Richards in conversation, with remarks about his personal life sprinkled throughout the criticism.
Despite the reaction Maurizio and his team seemed focused on helping the community. Just two days after his first post, Agency shared details of their efforts to support those affected by the wildfires.
A real estate firm has announced the opening of a donation and resource center to help affected residents.
For now Maurizio while not responding directly to the criticism, his actions suggest that his goal was to help, not to promote.
Time of holding Maurizio post and enable Agency in his statement may have sparked controversy, but his actions in the following days were aimed at providing tangible support to the victims of the wildfire.
