Mauricio Umansky: ‘Put politics aside and get Los Angeles rebuilt’

Real Estate Mogul Mauricio Umansky According to California officials, they need to work with the federal government to help people in the areas devastated by the fires rebuild and that this is not the time to fight with the president.

“This is the time to put politics aside and rebuild Los Angeles,” Umansky told Fox Business. “This is not the time for our state government to be political and … start fighting back.”

Umansky’s Luxury Real Envee Company, an agency that represents a portfolio of homes for sale around the world, has many of its clients in the areas hardest hit by the fires that ravaged the Los Angeles area earlier this month.

His agents, some of whom had lost their homes, worked around the clock to find a place to find them all, but it was far from easy.

“One of the hardest things is that for every house there are 10 applicants and nine are turned down,” he said. “When you think about it, and these are all people who lost their homes, so… Their depression is insane.”

Umansky said people are moving in the city, and many of them want to stay close to home, but at the same time, there are those who are moving north or leaving the state.

“We displaced thousands and thousands of people. And so it will be very difficult,” he said.

Umansky said it’s too early to tell what that will look like, how people are going to rebuild, but he knows governments have to work.

“We are looking for answers. I don’t think the government has done a good job of raising the alarm about what to look like,” he said, adding that residents are still struggling. How are they going to get insurance?

It is Hughes Fire, First reported Wednesday morning in the undeveloped community of Calatsia in northwest Los Angeles, it spread quickly due to aggressive winds that plagued firefighting efforts.

Since the fires started on Jan. 7, California Gov. Gavin Gov. Gavin News and Trump have been at odds. NEWSOM has been sharply critical of the state’s response to the Los Angeles fires.

NEWSOM also condemned Trump’s criticism, telling NBC News on “Meet the Press” earlier this month that “misinformation and misinformation are not helping any of us.” Meanwhile, Trump, a longtime critic of California’s government, recently came out went so far as to say that California could not receive federal aid unless it changed certain policies.

Although NEWSOM has signed an aid package that provides $2.5 billion for recovery efforts as fires continue to sweep through parts of Southern California, Umansky also has “no question.”

“They’ve got to put their egos aside,” he said. “We’re going to need federal money. We’re going to need state money.”

He said the state shouldn’t fight Trump.

“When I say to him, I mean … He’s going to have ideas. We have to have the help of the federal government,” he said.
