Maharashtra: Man gives triple talaq to wife after she refuses to sleep with his boss, case filed

A software engineer in Maharashtra’s Kalyan is facing legal charges after allegedly giving his wife triple talaq after refusing to comply with her shocking demand.The incident, which came to light on December 19, involved a 45-year-old man , who reportedly asked his 28-year-old wife to have sex with his boss at a party.The situation escalated when the man pressed forced his wife to get Rs 15 lakh from her parents to support his first wife.

He was convicted of giving instant triple talaq to his second wife, a criminal offense under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. The incident occurred after the man’s repeated demands were met with resistance.

The victim, who married the accused in January this year, was reportedly in a happy relationship at first. However, the situation turned sour when the husband started harassing her for Rs 15 lakh, claiming he needed money to divorce his first wife , when he allegedly pressured a woman to sleep with her boss at a party.

After her refusal, the man resorted to physical violence and eventually pronounced instant triple talaq before throwing her out of the house.A case was registered against her under Articles 115(2), 351(2), 351(3) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. , as well as 2019 according to the relevant provisions of the law.

After this traumatic experience, the wife approached the Sambhaji Nagar police station on December 19 to complain about her husband. The next day, the case was transferred to the Bazarpet police station in Kalyan for further investigation.

In a separate incident, a woman from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh grabbed attention after her husband pronounced “triple talaq” against her for supporting police action in the wake of the Sambhal violence.

In April last year, a 45-year-old man from Odisha was allegedly divorced from his 32-year-old wife through ‘triple talaq’ after she confessed to losing Rs 1.5 lakh to cyber scams, following her complaint to the state police filed a case against the man, accusing him of uttering “talaq” three times after learning about the financial loss.
