How much we love covering the careers of famous actors Star of the Spider-Man franchise, Zendaya or Tom Hardy, the main character of the movie “Mad Max: Fury Road”.there’s something uniquely exciting about watching the work of a fast-rising star like Louis Partridge. Since appearing in Netflix’s Enola Holmes alongside Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, the 21-year-old English actor has appeared in some high-profile films and TV shows, building his resume under visionaries like Matthew Vaughn and Academy Award winners Danny Boyle and Alfonso Cuaron.

Partridge currently looks set to set the world on fire over the next few years, with starring roles in Stephen Knight’s House of Guinness and George Jacques’ Sundancer. He’s also slated to appear in Noah Baumbach’s next film and looks set to helm a new action franchise for Vaughn. If you want to get to know someone who could be one of the defining young actors of the late 2020s, you should definitely check out the movies and TV shows below.

For Argy

“Argylle” was a little difficult when it was released in early 2024. Although we at /Film discovered that a wild, twisty and mostly satisfying romantic comedycritics were generally pretty harsh on Matthew Vaughn’s spy romp – an icy reception that played its part an unimpressive $17.4 million opening weekend. By the time it left theaters, it hadn’t even grossed $100 million at the worldwide box office against an admittedly ridiculous $200 million budget. Still, Argyle is a must-see for fans of Vaughn, spy movies, and especially Louis Partridge.

The film tells about the writer Ellie Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who unwittingly falls into the world of spies, secret organizations and criminal masterminds. Her spy novels (which feature a fictional operator named Argyle, played by Henry Cavill) are apparently so realistic and well-written as to border on the prophetic, making her authorial brain an invaluable asset to the rogue department.

Given the abysmal box office take, it’s likely that readers of this article have heard little about Argyle beyond its viral marketing campaign, its association with mystery novelist Taylor Swift, and the resulting interest in Agent Argyle’s true identity. But the film can boast not only a superficial intrigue. His biggest fight scene it’s arguably one of 2024’s best romantic moments, and Vaughn’s signature, colorful touch is more fearless here than in his adaptations of other works. As for Partridge, it would be a huge spoiler for us to even talk about who he playsand he’s not in the movie much. However, if you’re a fan of his, you’ll definitely want to gift the Argyle watch as it could very well shape the next chapter of his career as an actor.

Medici: Wonderful

For fans of historical epics, Netflix’s Medici might be in order. Made in Italy, it tells the story of the life of the powerful Medici family, who ruled Florence in the 15th century.

Louis Partridge joined the series in the third season as Piero de’ Medici, the eldest son of Lorenzo “The Magnificent” Medici (Stuart Martin). Most of the season focuses on the conclusion of the story of Lorenzo, who was the main character of the series after the 20-year time jump after the end of season 1. His controversial decisions while serving as Lord of Florence begin to have unexpected consequences, eroding the trust of his advisors, friends and family, as well as his own moral compass.

The series takes a somewhat non-historical approach to Lorenzo’s end, directing him to the same fate in a much darker way. As such, Pierrot must take on even more responsibility at a young age, trying to make sense of how his family and home have changed dramatically before his eyes. It may not be a history lesson, but The Medici offers an accessible window into a unique political world, along with plenty of excitement and some compelling performances, particularly from Partridge.

a gun

If you’re more into modern biopics, Louis Partridge is excellent in the FX miniseries Pistol, which traces the musical journey of English punk band the Sex Pistols. Directed by Danny Boyle and based on guitarist Steve Jones’ autobiography, Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, it primarily examines their story from Jones’ point of view. Partridge gives a striking supporting role as Sid Vicious, the band’s darkly enigmatic bassist.

The actor landed the role of Vicious almost immediately after starring in Netflix’s Enola Holmes, a young-adult mystery starring Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill in the Sherlock Holmes universe. “I was worried about getting the part of the slick boy with the floppy hair, and now I’m playing Sid Vicious…” he said Rolling Stone in 2022.

Indeed, the two artists led very different lives, and Partridge had to consult an expert to better understand the role of drugs in the rock star’s life. He died of a heroin overdose in 1979 at the age of 21 – just two years older than Partridge while filming The Guns. “I was just trying to understand him,” he said of playing the controversial figure. “(Vishes’ behavior) comes from a place of insecurity… He sees the crowd and acts in front of them; he wants a reaction because he just needs attention and love. I feel sorry for him in that regard, but as well as being the innocent Sid, he’s also been this other Sid at many points in his life.”

There is a series as raw and powerful as the band that inspired itand Partridge shines in every one of his scenes. Unfortunately, because Disney made the decision to pull back a staggering number of shows from Disney+ and Huluit is difficult, if at all possible.

Disclaimer

If Argyle was difficult to write about without revealing the twists and turns that make it worth watching, Denial is nearly impossible. Written and directed by Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron starring equally acclaimed actors Cate Blanchett and Kevin Klineit tells three interconnected stories that together could destroy several lives – that is, if you can trust any of those stories at all. Two contemporary stories tell different angles of the conflict between documentary filmmaker Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchette) and writer and scientist Steven Brigstock (Kline). Stephen believes that Catherine is responsible for the death of his son Jonathan, and he enters Catherine’s life with a novel that purports to explain why.

In the third story, Louis Partridge stars as Jonathan Brigstock, who is destined to meet his demise after a passionate romance with a young Catherine (Leila George). Following the rock ‘n’ roll style of the Pistols, it was a completely different working environment for Partridge. “I loved (filming ‘Pistols’), I loved messing around on set and being physical,” he said Collider. “(But) Jonathan was very aware of what he was going after Alphonse, so I felt very connected to a lot of it because he was looking to get a certain shot or get into a position.”

However, Partridge seemed more than happy to accept the challenge as he worked with the caliber of artists he had always dreamed of. “My word, sharing the screen with (Blanchette) is unreal,” he marveled. “Also, knowing that Alfonso even wanted me there and trusted me with this role, and to tell the story with these people who are at the top of their game, was just a huge confidence boost. It was amazing.”

Enola Holmes

Of course, as his first major starring role, we had to include Netflix’s Enola Holmes on this list. The film tells the story of the titular heroine (Millie Bobby Brown), the younger sister of the famous private detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) and the much less famous bureaucrat Mycroft Holmes (Sam Claflin). When two brothers try to send her to boarding school after the sudden disappearance of her mother (Helena Bonham Carter), Enola unexpectedly finds herself in a mystery.

At the center of her investigation is Viscount Tewkesbury, a romantic if slightly confused boy played by Louis Partridge. For some unknown reason, Tewkesbury has been targeted for assassination by the mysterious assassin Linthorne (Burn Gorman). While we won’t spoil how this plot ultimately plays out, Partridge is perfectly cast in the role and is unusually well-played against the hyper-intelligent Holmes Brown. Both actors were still teenagers when they worked on the film, and Partridge was auditioning in the midst of final exams at school.

“I learned how to balance laughing and joking on set from Millie while still doing serious work,” Partridge shared with A gentleman’s magazine. “I’ve also learned how rewarding it can be to really get along with who you’re working with. It can give you complete freedom to try new things and not feel embarrassed when they go wrong.”

Partridge also appears in the sequel Enola Holmes 2, which some argue is even better than the first.
