Los Angeles Fires: Donations, relief efforts and how to help fire victims
For days now, Fires in Los Angeles County raged through communities and destroyed more than 27,000 acres and 2,000 homes, businesses and other structures. The fires have displaced thousands of people as they flee the flames for safety.
For those interested in helping with relief efforts, we’ve rounded up resources for those in need, organizations you can donate to, and ways to support those dealing with the devastation caused by these fires.
We created this list from ratings of Charity navigatorwhich rates charities based on their financial standing, accountability and transparency. Charity Navigator has designated the “Give with Confidence” designation to the organizations listed below. Before donating, you should make sure that a charity matches your values ​​and that the donation is used in ways you want. Charity Navigator has also compiled list of highly rated charities which provide relief and recovery to those affected by the Palisades, Eaton and other wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is participating in wildfire relief efforts to shelter families, serve food, support emergency responders, provide medical care and deliver emergency supplies. Baby2Baby is providing diapers, food, formula and critical hygiene items to children and families affected by the fires. You can make a donation or search for volunteer opportunities here.
Community Foundation of California

The California Fire Foundation is assisting victims with immediate financial assistance. You can donate to wildfire and disaster relief here.

Direct relief is mobilizing to deliver critical medical supplies and financial assistance to healthcare facilities serving those affected by the wildfires raging in LA County.
Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation provides critical equipment, technology and emergency resources to support LAFD firefighting crews. You can make a donation here.
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is providing emergency food assistance to families and residents affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles County. The Food Bank accepts food donations at our two distribution centers from 8am to 5pm, located at:

Other ways to help and stay safe
Here are some other ways to support fire relief efforts besides donating money or supplies:
- Avoid traveling to Southern California even if you are trying to help.
- Research local churches or religious organizations that may accept donations or supplies.
- Text instead of calling. The Emergency Guide urges you to call only when necessary. Texting will keep the lines open for emergency communication.
- Breed or adopt animals from shelters to create space for pets coming from fire-affected communities.
- Connect with people you know who live in Southern California and who may be affected by disturbance, smoke and fire damage
