The ongoing Test match between Australia and India at the Gabba has been affected by rain since day one. Only 13.2 overs could be bowled on the first day as rain prevented play from continuing.

However, the second day was dry enough and allowed the game to continue. As the match progressed towards an interesting stage, the third day was again interrupted by continuous rain as most of the day was wiped out.

Mitchell Marsh confident of Australia win at Gabba

After the end of the third day, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was asked about the chances of getting a result in the Test match. Marsh was confident of Australia’s victory with two days to go. He believes there is still plenty of time left in the game which will be enough to force a result.

“We’re always asking for the radar and what’s going on. Two days to go, I think there’s still plenty of time for a result,” Mitchell Marsh was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.

Mitchell Marsh hasn’t had much to do so far in the ongoing Test. He was fired for only 5 years jasprit bumrah and had the lowest rating among the top nine batsmen in Australia’s batting line-up.

Can Australia push for a follow-up?

Meanwhile, Australia can push for an innings win if they don’t allow India to cross the chase target. The Men in Blue still need 194 runs to avoid the chase which will not be an easy task from here on out.

India ended Day 3 on 51-4 and are still 394 runs behind Australia’s first innings score. They will require some serious work from their captain Rohit Sharma if they want to get back into this game.

Batsmen remaining for India

Rohit Sharma is yet to open his account and has played 6 balls so far. KL Rahul is batting alongside him and looks solid. Rahul looked India’s most assured batsman on Day 3 and is unbeaten on 33 off 64 balls. Apart from him, no other Indian batsman crossed the double-digit mark on the third day.

With Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy India will then believe they still have some batting left to reach a respectable first innings total. Although Reddy has looked in good batting form, this seriesit will be Jadeja’s first match of the series.

The five-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1 with India winning the first match in Perth and Australia winning the second in Adelaide. The next two Tests will be played in Melbourne and Sydney respectively.
