Liverpool need Nunez in injury time to beat Brentford Football News
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunes scores twice in injury time at Brentford as the Reds extend their lead to seven points.
Darwin Nunes scored twice in regulation “Liverpool” defeated “Brentford” with a score of 2:0 to cement their place at the top of the Premier League on Saturday.
Second-placed Arsenal will then look to beat Aston Villa to regain the four-point lead over Liverpool.
Nunez was booed by the Brentford fans after coming on as a 65th-minute substitute, but the Uruguayan striker responded by turning home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the first minute of added time.
Nunes then finished off a counter-attack two minutes later to secure their first win in three league games for Liverpool, who lost to Tottenham in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final and drew with Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool still lost just one league game all season, at home to Forest in September. The Reds had 37 shots against Brentford and scored their last two goals.

Justin Kluivert scored his second league hat-trick of the season to inspire Bournemouth to a 4-1 thrashing at Newcastle that saw their nine-match winning streak in all competitions come to an emphatic end.
The Dutch midfielder scored goals in the sixth, 44th and second half at St. James’ Park. In the sixth minute of added time, Milos Kerkez added the fourth goal. Bruno Guimaraes equalized for fourth-placed Newcastle.
Kluivert, whose father is former Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert, also scored three goals against Wolverhampton in November. Although all of Kluivert’s goals in that match were penalties, he scored each time from open play against Newcastle.
Six of Newcastle’s nine consecutive wins have come in the league and have helped the Saudi-controlled side climb into the top four in a bid to return to the Champions League.
“Newcastle” striker Alexander Isak has previously failed to score in 8 league games in a row. That left him three games short of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy’s record for the longest goal-scoring streak in Premier League history.

Bournemouth dominated Newcastle despite being hampered by a long injury list. The south coast side extended their unbeaten run to 11 games and moved up to sixth place, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea. Fifth place can qualify for next season’s Champions League for the first time. “Why not dream big?” Kluivert posed. “We never know where we might end up.”
Last Leicester lost their seventh game in a row in the league, 2-0 to Fulham, to increase the pressure on newly hired manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Van Nistelrooy has won just one of his nine league games in charge – the first against West Ham on 3 December. Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traore scored for Fulham.
Crystal Palace beat West Ham 2-0 thanks to two second-half penalty goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
