Earlier this year, Allen spoke about her decision to move her two daughters to the United States

She reflected on the differences between British and American attitudes, especially during awards season. She noted how expressive Americans are compared to the “stiff” British.

“One of the reasons I moved here is because I feel like it’s a much more encouraging environment for my kids to thrive in,” Allen explained.

She remembered that for the first time she was engaged in acting, despite the fact that she had no experience in the theater.

“When I told the Americans about it, they said, ‘Oh my God, this is so interesting!’ You will learn so much, you will kill!” – shared the singer.

Allen made a big lifestyle change in 2011 after being known as a famous pop girl when she moved to the countryside and started a family.

Reflecting on her career, she admitted in March that becoming a mother had a big impact on her pop career as she decided to focus on her children rather than work.

Speaking on the Radio Times Podcast, the singer-turned-actress shared her belief that women are often faced with a choice between career or children, and for her the decision was clear.

“My children ruined my career. I love them and they complement me, but from a pop star point of view they completely ruined her,” Allen admitted. “I get really annoyed when people say you can have it all, because frankly, you can’t.”
