The LG G5 OLED TV takes the brightness even higher
This new high-end TV looks like an early contender for best picture quality in 2025.
Hey guys, I really appreciate picture quality and this TV here might have the best picture quality I’ve ever seen. This is the LG G5. I didn’t have much time to see him now. This is a brand new TV, but this OLED TV looks great from what I’ve seen. So the big difference between the G5 and last year’s G4 is brightness. LG said it improved the brightness level by 40%. Now I will be able to test it later. I’ll have to take their word for it now, but looking at it here at LG. Demo pack, looks really bright and of course the effect combined with the brightness with the black levels of the OLED so the black on the screen is really very dark even in a room with high ambient light. Now that’s pretty important. It’s not the brightest room, but there’s some light in here and I can see that the black levels are preserved despite the fact that there’s some lighting in the room and you get a really great mix of contrast because of those better black levels and again they say, that they are better than last year. Rejecting that ambient light and keeping that excellent contrast, so I was able to take a quick look at the G5’s picture quality, and I have to say it’s really impressive from what I saw. Now this isn’t a real review, a side-by-side comparison with its competitors. This is my take on the TV, but it’s really bright. I watched in Vivid mode, which is the mode with the brightest picture quality. The more accurate cinema modes will be a little less bright, but overall it seems to live up to that improved brightness and, of course, those excellent blacks. Levels. I’m pretty excited about all of this. They also added a 165 Hz refresh rate, which for gaming can bring some improvement. But in short, it’s very similar to last year’s G4, except for that improved brightness and ambient room light rejection. This TV is now available in sizes from 55 to 97 inches, but only the 83, 77, 65 and 55 inch sizes retain all these picture quality advantages. It will be expensive, no price yet which will come out a little later. Year, so we’ll see how it tests against the best OLED TVs on the market later this year. So this isn’t the only TV I’ve reviewed here at LG. They also have their transparent TV from last year. It’s now on the market for around $60,000, so you know, get your wallets out. It’s really cool technology that can go from being completely transparent to rolling up a small black panel to look more like a regular TV, really a first designer TV. Still amazing technology, but. Incredibly expensive. They also have their M5 series which is their wireless display technology so they say the picture quality is exactly the same as the G. It will be more expensive of course because it uses a separate box to send the signals from your game console, your cable box or whatever to the TV wirelessly. So they have improved this wireless technology a bit. They say you can now put this box in a cabinet which is pretty cool as long as there is no metal in the cabinet and that will allow transmission to take place between the box and. The TV again looks really just like the HDMI cable from the demo they put up here. Pretty cool for that. LG also announces the C5 series of OLED TVs. It was my favorite high-end TV for the money last year, very similar to the 2024 model, although they say just like the G that it’s a bit brighter, so we’ll check that out as well. It’s also available in a wider range of screen sizes. That’s a lot of OLED TVs from LG here at CES 2025. I can’t wait to check them out a bit later this year.
