Late Star Wars actor Ray Stevenson to be replaced in Ashoka

The fans loved it Ray Stevenson and his role as Baylan Skoll in the film “Star Wars“serial”Ahsoka“, so Lucasfilm made the difficult decision to replace the actor before Season 2.

After appearing in numerous TV series and films, the actor died in May 2023 after a short illness.

In May 2023, Ray Stevenson died after a short illness aged just 58.

The Vikings star previously voiced Star Wars character Gar Saxon in the Star Wars Rebels animated series and reprized his role in The Clone Wars.

He also played Wolstagg in Marvel’s Thor and Blackbeard in the Starz pirate series Black Sails.

He died in May 2023, a few months before Ahsoka premiered on Disney+ in August 2023.

Ray Stevenson was delighted to join Ashoka

Only a month before his death, the actor “RRR” talked with Collider at the Star Wars Celebration held in London in April 2023. When asked which episodes from one to eight he would most like fans to see, he jokingly replied, “One to eight.”

“You can’t. It’s like separating a family and saying which child is your favorite,” he joked. “It’s a whole journey.” When asked about the scripts created by “Ashoka” creator Dave Filoni, Stevenson admitted that he did not expect the “vision and complexity” that was given to the series.

Stevenson teased that Ahsoka has “scale,” adding, “I remember walking on set and going, ‘Who designed that?’ The actor, who also appeared in the Divergent series, also praised the costume design, meticulous construction and set design, which show that the cast and crew brought their “game” to the series.

Stevenson described the experience as “exhausting”

In the months leading up to its release, Stevenson said the show would have “a lot of interesting moments, surprises, journeys and unexpected events, and he (Dave Filoni) has continued to do that.” Although he admitted that filming some of the physical elements of the role was “exhausting”, he still felt that it was “a thrill” to be part of the franchise.

“These are character-driven fights,” he explained, praising the stunt coordinators working on the series. He said the “stakes are high” and that the scenes will “literally” keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Stevenson praised showrunner Dave Filoni

Although he admitted he didn’t know what to expect from the Star Wars show, he was excited to see the showrunner Dave Filoni and the wardrobe team took his feedback into account after he tried on his suit. He noted that their attention to detail was “impressive.”

He praised both Filoni and his longtime collaborator John Favreau for their unique ability to bring out the best in their actors, calling their “humility of greatness” truly “extending, wonderful and humbling.”

When asked about his excitement for the series, Stevenson said that “there’s a real love, and you feel like it’s resonating now like a tsunami of love from the fans… it’s also from the cast and crew. We just want to give it to the audience that deserves it, and give them everything, and they’re contributing, just put in the hard work.”

The role of Ray Stevenson will be played by a Game of Thrones alumnus.

In January 2024 Insnyder the Scottish actor was the first to break the news Rory McCannwho is best known for playing the Dog on HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, will replace the late actor as Baylon Skoll on the Disney+ series Ahsoka.

After leaving Game of Thrones, fans recently spotted McCann in Gladiator 2, which is set to hit screens in late 2024. He also starred in Jumanji: The Next Level, Hot Fluff, Hicks: The Return of Xander Cage, and the recent show Knuckles, which is now available to stream on Paramount+.

Starring in the Disney+ series Ahsoka. Rosario Dawson as the main character Ahsoka Tano, who reunites with her former student Sabine Ren (Natasha Liu Bardizzo) to stop the empire. On their way are Baylon Skoll and his apprentice, played by Shin Hathi Ivanna Sakhno.

According to The Hollywood Reporterit is not clear when Ashoka Season 2 will begin shooting and who will direct it. Dave Filoni will return as showrunner.
