Kristen Doute has 'what to say' about James Kennedy's arrest: It's a 'challenge'

Kristen Dout talks about his past relationship with James Kennedy.

The Vanderpump Rules alum gushed about Kennedy, 32, on the Saturday, Dec. 21 episode of her podcast, Balancing Act, which she hosts with her fiance Luke Broderick.

“So I want to talk about something very briefly, it’s going to start with a very unpopular opinion,” Douth began. “I’m sure many of you were aware of the news about James Kennedy that I kept quiet about.”

Dout noted that her heart was “beating so fast just talking about it,” saying that she doesn’t speak to Rachel “Raquel” Lewis “not at all” but she had “read some of the things she was outspoken about” regarding Kennedy. Dout added that she “resonated a lot with some of the things Rachel said recently.”

The stars of Vanderpump Rules are no strangers to controversy. Dout was the original Vanderpump Rules cast member and began dating Kennedy in 2014 before the couple split in September 2015. Since then, Douth has gone on to become is expecting her first child with Broderick.

“I know I’ve said very little about the James situation at this point,” Dout said on her podcast, adding that it was “for a reason.” She noted that it’s “working” for her, adding: “I’ve been struggling with speaking out to help with my healing and I also need a break to keep calm during this pregnancy.”

Dout added that she “has some things to say” and will address them soon, saying: “While I want to say: James Kennedy, domestic violence is not a ‘difficult moment’, and for Ellie: I hope you have all the support you deserve.’

This is not Dout’s first statement since Kennedy’s arrest. On Thursday, December 12, she posted an article about Kennedy’s arrest via her Instagram storywriting “Finally” in the caption.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Burbank police were dispatched to the home Kennedy shares with his girlfriend Eli Luber.

According to police records obtained by People, the anonymous woman said “her boyfriend picked her up and threw her to the ground.” Kennedy was arrested for domestic violence.

“I’m trying to make some big changes in my life,” Kennedy wrote in an Instagram Story on Tuesday, Dec. 17, after his arrest. “I’m taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth and being around my loved ones.” He also said that “it’s not easy to overcome difficult times, but I’m determined to learn, grow and move forward with an incredible support system around me.”

In a statement to Us Weekly, Kennedy’s attorney said they are “in the process of conducting their own investigation into the allegations made against James by the Burbank Police Department,” adding, “We understand there were no injuries and we hope that, after careful review, the city’s prosecutors will decide not to file formal charges.”
