Johnny Gaudreau’s Family Guide: Meet the NHL Star’s Wife and Kids
Although Johnny Gaudreau loved hockey, family always came first.
Off the ice, the NHL player liked to spend time with his wife, Meredithand their two children, Noah and Johnny.
Tragedy strikes the Gaudreau family, however, when Johnny and his younger brother, Matthew Gaudreau, died while cycling in Oldmans, New Jersey on August 29, 2024.
“Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more importantly, a loving father, son, brother and friend,” the Columbus Blue Jackets said in a statement. through X after his death it became known. “We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Meredith, his children Noah and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden deaths of Johnny and Matthew.”

Meredith Gaudreau
Johnny met his future wife, Meredith, in the summer of 2018 when she was an ICU nurse. She according to reports lived next door to the hockey player’s off-season residence in Avalon, New Jersey. After two years of dating, the couple got engaged.
On September 8, 2021, Meredith and Johnny officially became husband and wife, getting married in a church ceremony. “What a weekend!!” the groom wrote through Instagram after a celebration at Fairmount Water Works in Pennsylvania. “Very lucky!!🤍🖤”
Meredith added“We are married! 9.4.21 forever! love you so much @johngaudreau03 🖤🤍.”

During the marriage of Johnny and Meredith, the couple had two children. In September 2022, the couple officially became parents when Meredith gave birth to a baby girl named Noah Harper Gaudreau.
In February 2024, the couple added to their family when Meredith gave birth to a boy named Johnny Edward Gaudreau. “Love you @johngaudreau03,” mom wrote via Instagram from the hospital ward. “Life 2 by 2 here we come.”

Johnny died just a day before he was due to be best man at his sister Kathy’s wedding to her fiancé Devin Joyce in Philadelphia. (A couple of days ago documented attend the christening of Johnny’s daughter, Noah.) Johnny’s other sister, Kristen, chooses privacy on social media.

Johnny seemed to have an incredibly strong bond with his parents. When his father, Guy, ended up in the hospital, Johnny was by his side as he fought to recover. “Craziest 72 hours of my life but my family is happy to have my dad back home and he is on the road to a full recovery!” he wrote through Instagram in March 2018 “Thank you for all the prayers and support from friends and family from Jersey to Calgary! He is the strongest man I know! #blessed🙏”
Johnny also celebrated Mother’s Day by calling Jane “amazing woman”, which deserved the award for the best mom.

Johnny and his younger brother were both killed during the aforementioned bike race. Matej was married Madeleine Gaudreau. His latest post on the social media platform was photos of the couple enjoying their 2022 honeymoon in St. George, Grenada. “Without you, I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” he wrote to his wife via email Instagram. “I love you always.” Madeline greeted her and Matthew the first childTrip, in December 2024.
