Jerry O’Connell calls his daughter “Nepa Baby” for reading lines together

Jerry O’Connell gladly imparts his wisdom to his daughters, Charlie and Dollyeven if it means they will be babies.
“I have one daughter who is auditioning for the school musical,” O’Connell, 50, said. Us Weekly while promoting the series finale Conversation and Star Trek: The Lower Decks. “They do Urinetownso we went to Mel’s last night and went over her lines at the diner, so it was really funny.”
He was an actor co-presenter on Conversation from 2021 — noted that he doesn’t think his 16-year-old twin daughters think he’s “cool,” but that doesn’t stop him from passing on his career wisdom to them. (O’Connell shares his teenage years with his wife Rebecca Romijn.)
“I’m going to have a couple of babies! I’m throwing it away,” O’Connell joked, teasing that he wants to “pre-name” his kids babies before “someone else” can do it.
The Stand next to me the star admitted that since acting is a “family business” for both him and his wife, his children are destined to become minors. (The phrase refers to nepotism that comes from a famous person which is a descendant of another famous or influential person and is usually negative in context.)
“I’m good at two things in this life — I’m okay with acting and I’m okay with hosting a TV show and that’s it. I’m also in the fantasy football playoffs,” he said with a laugh. “Whatever!”
O’Connell explained that because of his skills, taking turns running with his girls should give them an advantage.
“I can sit down with my daughter who is auditioning for a school play in a diner and I can say, ‘This is how you should say that line. This is how you should say this line. This is how to say that line,” he shared. “And that’s the only thing I can pass on to my kids.”
He started trolling himself for his lack of knowledge about other things including financial advice, cryptocurrency and “wilderness survival”.
However, O’Connell’s background may help his children “increase their chances of getting a good role” in a high school play. He noted that if one of his and Romiyna’s daughters “turned out to be tall,” she could also help them with modeling notes.
“She can say, ‘These are good modeling positions if you want to be a model,'” he said of his wife’s additional skills. “So we might have a couple of babies.”

Although his teenager is just getting into acting, O’Connell hasn’t ruled out working with one of them in the future – if they let it. “I don’t know if my kids will ever want to work with me!” he teased.
He admitted that now he is just glad that his girls are “not vaping” and there are no “boys” in their orbit.. “Their friends are starting to get in touch. Their friends start to “get along”. He added that in the run-up to his children’s license, he feels like a “government agency” while “trying to get as much information as possible” during each boarding and disembarking exchange.
O’Connell noted that his time spent in the car with the teenagers will be even more noticeable now Conversation there is ends after 15 seasons.

“They’re at an age where I have to drive them, but they don’t really want me around, so they’re often picked up blocks away from parties,” he teased, joking, “It’s a lot like going to a car dealership. You sit and wait for the customer to leave.”
While O’Connell doesn’t always know what’s going on with his girls, he does try to give them advice – some of which he learned further Conversation.
“That show really taught me how to be a really good talk show host, and it’s funny, I learned a huge amount from Kelly Ripa. I learned a tremendous amount from Wendy Williams,” he recalled, calling himself a “substitute teacher” after filling in for such major television personalities before co-hosting the CBS series.
He admitted: “I’m kind of depressed that it’s coming to an end, and my family feels it too.” O’Connell said that during one of his infamous carpool slots, he overheard his daughters talking about the end of that chapter.
“I heard one of my kids behind me say, ‘Yeah, my dad’s show is coming to an end, so he’s going to hang around a lot more. I hope he doesn’t get super weird or anything because we’re just going to see him around,” he continued. “And I went, ‘Oh my God. It’s getting serious.”
O’Connell, who also voices Commander Jack Ransom in the animated series Star Trek: The Lower Decksnoted that he is open to any career opportunities.
“I would like to do another talk show. I like it,” he said usadding that he also likes the idea of being a guest on a talk show promoting his own series. “Being on Conversation for the past 4 years I’ve watched everyone bring their TV shows to our show and I want to bring my show to someone else’s show.’
