Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appeared in an episode of “Landman” on Paramount+ and believes that his hospital scene with Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton was so emotional that he didn’t act.

Landman, a show about Texas oil tycoons, saw Jones on camera during the ninth episode as he gave a heartwarming speech to Jon Hamm’s character in a hospital bed.

This makes sense Jones appeared considering his fortune was built through the oil business and real estate before buying the Cowboys.

“America’s Team” tugged at Jones’ heartstrings as he explained to Hamm’s character why he wanted to buy the team in the first place.

“I’m not saying I’m doing anything right, but I decided a long time ago that I was going to work with my kids,” Jones says to begin her monologue. “They participate in everything, they participate in my leasing, oil and gas, real estate.

“So when I bought the Cowboys, I bought it so we could all work together. I thought I was doing it for them. But I was the one who benefited the most.”

After Jones said Hamm’s character The Cowboys owner became emotional while talking about his family, saying that he believes that the disease he is facing will not take him to the next life.

“I just know it won’t be this time, but sometime in the future, you’re going to be sitting here, you’re going to sleep here, and this room is going to be full of people you work with, your co-workers and all your friends. Your kids and your family are probably going to be there because they’re your kids and it’s your family,” Jones said. “But you could keep them there, because they are the people you spend your life with, work with, fall down with, get up with.

“It’s not just Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s who you want to be with. So when it’s like that, it’s the holiday of your life, and you don’t wish you’d spent a little more time watching a few more suns come out. That’s the trick.

“I’m pretty proud of them Cowboys. I’m pretty proud of what we’re doing in oil and gas. It pales in comparison to how proud I am to live my life working with my kids.”

Jones’ journey in the oil and gas field began with his company Jones Oil and Land Lease in Arkansas, and it grew rapidly. Jones also bought Comstock Resources, an oil and gas exploration company. Today, Jones and his family are the largest shareholders of Comstock Resources Inc.

With the money now in hand, Jones purchased the Cowboys for $140 million on February 25, 1989, and it has been his pride and joy ever since. As Jones said in his speech, his children play a big role in the Cowboys’ operations.

Jones continues to run the team as owner, president and general manager, the last of the titles criticized in recent seasons, but he won’t be giving it up anytime soon.

His son Stephen is chief operating officer, director of player personnel and co-owner. His daughter Charlotte is the CEO and co-owner of the brand. Finally, Jerry Jr. is the chief sales and marketing director and co-owner.

While he may be on one show, Jones, 82, clearly loves that his Cowboys have become a family business, something the family certainly doesn’t take for granted.
